Mubasher: Taiwan’s president Tsai Ing-wen asked on Saturday for international support to help self-governing island against the Chinese threat.

The Chinese president Xi Jinping said that no one can change the fact that Taiwan is not but a part of the Chinese land, maintaining that his country may use force to bring Taiwan under its control.

"We hope that the international community takes it seriously and can voice support and help us," Tsai stated.

If the international community fail to support a democratic country as Taiwan, "we might have to ask which country might be next?", the Taiwanese president added.

China has always drawing redlines around the Taiwanese issue, especially after a member of the island’s pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party became president in 2016.
